About Season's Gleanings:

Season’s Gleanings greeting cards are inspired by the vibrant diversity of crops that grow in Whatcom County in northwest Washington state. Designs are created using fruits, vegetables, and other gathered plants from forest edge to river bank, then photographed to make cards that bring delight to young and old, for any occasion, all year round.

The messages of Season’s Gleanings greeting cards are enduring, and made with joy and a deep reverence for the planet that sustains us, along with the hope that cards will be kept or shared for years of continued enjoyment.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, materials and services are sourced locally whenever possible. Cards are printed on 100% PCW recycled stock, and envelopes are 100% PCW recycled. Sleeved cards are sent in an Eco Clear Bag, a sustainable alternative to traditional packaging. Made with EarthFirst® PLA film from Ingeo™ that is certified compostable by the Biodegradable Product Institute (BPI).

About the designer and photographer:

Rio Thomas was born loving food. She's grown much of her family's food for over 30 years, and worked on local organic farms for over 15 years. During that time she developed and directed a local gleaning effort, Small Potatoes Gleaning Project, which continues today as a project of the Bellingham Food Bank.

The early inspiration for Season’s Gleanings came while making thank you cards for farmers and volunteers involved in the project. The first thank you card, made for this purpose, is still available today.

Rio is is unabashedly obsessed with garden and farm grown food. You're always sure to find her sowing, growing, preparing, sharing, eating, creating with, or photographing it!

She lives, gardens and designs in Everson, Washington, with her husband, Brien and enjoys visits (and tech support) from her children, Sierra and Miguel.
